About:
Andrew Friedman has worked on legal reform and institutional development in developing and transitional states for more than a decade. This has included a diverse range of roles including technical advisor, researcher and advocate in a wide range of countries across the Middle East, North and East Africa and Latin America for non-profits, private companies, international and intergovernmental organizations and academic institutions. His particular focus is constitutional reform and development and he currently serves as the head of the Constitutionalism and International Rule of Law Practice Area of the London Centre of International Law Practice. In the past he has worked with a number of international organizations on constitutional drafting and reform and his expertise has been recognized, through participation as an independent expert in drafting and revision efforts, membership in the International Academy of Constitutional Law and the African Network of Constitutional Lawyers and invited service as a reviewer of the International Journal of Constitutional Law. He has also written extensively on political and legal development and constitutional reform throughout the world in news outlets and leading international legal journals and lectured to policy makers, professionals and scholars on four continents. Academically, he holds a JD and a BA from the University of Illinois and an LLM in International Law and Development from the University of Nottingham and is licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Illinois.
