Dr Charles A. Khamala has practiced as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya for 30 years and has represented clients before the International Criminal Court, and International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, consulted for the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and is on the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights’ Legal Aid Scheme. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law, Catholic University of Eastern Africa with a Ph.D. in Law from the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour. He is widely published in international criminal law, criminal law and procedure, constitutional law and human rights. His articles appear in the African Human Rights Yearbook, African Yearbook on International Humanitarian Law, African Human Rights Law Journal and the Law and Development Review. His doctorate Crimes against Humanity in Kenya’s Post-2007 Conflicts is published by Wolf Legal Publishers. Charles emerged top three Teacher of the Year 2024 at the Nairobi Legal Awards.
